Virginia Nihart, 81, of Bemidji, MN died Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Bemidji. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024 with a 7 p.m. prayer service and rosary at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Foxholm, ND at a later date.

Virginia May Pritschet was born February 15, 1943 in Elkhart, IN to Aloys Joseph and Pauline Anna (Koppy) Pritschet. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1961.  She was involved in marching band, pep band and orchestra and concert band where she played the sousaphone and tuba.  After high school, Virginia worked at various hospitals, factories and restaurants in Elkhart, IN and Minot, ND. In 1966, she married Earle Nihart from Middlebury, IN. Virginia enjoyed being a farm wife for 15 years and raising 4 beautiful, wonderful, amazing children. In 1983, she went back to school in Bemidji, MN to get her LPN license and started working at Beltrami Nursing Home, now Havenwood Care Center. She retired from the nursing home in 2001. Virginia enjoyed her 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, gardening, picking rocks, cutting wood and working outside on her “farm” in Becida. Virginia had a devout catholic faith, loved going to daily mass at St. Philip’s where she had been a member since 1980.

She is survived by her children, Patrick (Lisa) Nihart, Oliver (Veronica) Nihart-Arango, Gwen (Dan) Cwikla and Brenda Millar; grandchildren Stephanie Nihart, Stacey Nihart, Brandi Nihart, Joshua Nihart, Phebe Nihart-Arango, Kayla Nihart-Arango, Zoe Cwikla, Izabelle Cwikla, Shawn Millar, Alena Millar, Kyle Millar and Lillian Millar; great-grandchildren, Ally, Weston, Kaila and Lily; longtime friend, Brenda Watkins “Munsey” and sisters, Gloria Pritschet, Bonita Pritschet, Marybeth Pritschet Davis, Carlene Pritschet.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aloys and Pauline Pritschet and beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, Virginia would like donations to a mass said for all of your loved ones.
