Verna Doris Gagnon

Verna Gagnon, 89, of Bemidji, MN died Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023 at Trinity Free Lutheran Church, Pony Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, Pony Lake.

Honorary Bearers will be her grandchildren, Gina Hill, John Olson and Michelle Bliss.

Casket Bearers will be her grandchildren, Heather Cox, Travis Gagnon, Mara Gross, Chelsea Johnson-Haugesag, William Gagnon and J.T. Gagnon.

Verna Doris (Sall) Gagnon was born March 28, 1934 in Bemidji to Oscar and Dagney (Rugsven) Sall. She grew up on a farm in rural Bemidji. She attended Pony Lake School and graduated from Bemidji High School. She married William Gagnon on July 27, 1957 in Bemidji. After raising 4 children, Verna worked various jobs ending as a physical therapy aide with North Country Regional Hospital. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending more time with her sisters, family and friends. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, her grandchildren playing sports, a good game of bingo, reading and listening to music at Pony Lake Church. She was a member of the homemaker’s club and one of her favorite homemaker’s projects was the annual collection of stuffed bears that were donated to Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department.

Verna is survived by daughters, Julie (Keith) Johnson, Bemidji and Linda (Todd) Heuer, Colorado Springs, CO; son, Mark (Darcy) Gagnon, Nevis; daughter-in-law, Cindy Gagnon, Bemidji; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and sister, Irene (Elwood) Johnson, Bemidji.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Gagnon; son, Steve Gagnon and sisters, Dorothy Pawlik and Donna Dickhausen.
