Karen Irene (Hoff) Jacobson was born February 9, 1951to Vivian (Mavis) Hoff and Kenneth Hoff in Fergus Falls, MN. Karen married Gary Allen Jacobson September 9th, 1972 in Fergus Falls. She and Gary moved to Bemidji in 1977. Karen was a homemaker most of her years raising her children. She was able to find jobs that fit into that selfless role including tying fly tackle, cleaning and repairing defective coffee pots and sewing for Lady Slipper Design. After her children were well into their school years she began working outside the home. For 10 years she worked at Marketplace Deli before retiring with Gary in 2007. She and Gary were active in the Bemidji American Legion. She was a member of the Bemidji Legion Auxiliary for over 30 years and was more recently volunteering at the VA Clinic in Bemidji. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crafting. Many of her gifts to her kids, friends and relatives was a homemade blanket, hat or a new thing she wanted to try out. Karen was dedicated and fulfilled by raising her six children. She was continually active and present in their lives; this, in itself, is how she made her mark on the world. She was a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader for many years. She was the voice of reason for all her children and anyone who walked into her life. As her children grew and gained friends, Karen gained more children. She is endearingly called Momma J by many. She deeply enjoyed her three grandsons and cherished each day she spent with them. A quiet, humble, loving woman with a sweet and quiet presence will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children Tracy (Scott) Williams, Cody (Jennifer) Jacobson, Caleb (Rachel Remitz) Jacobson, Chase Jacobson and Chance Jacobson. Her grandchildren Bryce Jacobson, Grant Williams and Ryker Jacobson. Her brother John (Becky) Hoff of Fargo, ND; sisters, Debra (Tim) Akers of Truman, MN and Jane (David) Fournier of Fergus Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary Jacobson, her son Cole Jacobson and brother Van Hoff.
