Lucille Margaret (Klasen) Wright

Lucille Wright, 85 of Bemidji, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024 at Christian Community Home in Osceola Wisconsin. 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Lucille Margeret Klasen was born July 24, 1938 to Herman and Clara (Huewe) Klasen in Puposky MN. She grew up and attended school in Bemidji. She married John “Cort” Rowles on April 13, 1956 in Grand Rapids, MN. They had a daughter June in 1957 followed by son Robert in 1959. In 1964 they moved to the old Cloverleaf Farm on Tyler Avenue south of Bemidji. Living on a farm will lead to horses and Lucille took this opportunity to become an avid horsewoman who went on many trail and endurance rides. She was determined to do anything a man could do which meant she fixed tractors and when Cort got his pilots license, she got one too. Always organized with attention to every detail, Lucille worked for many years as a court recorder for the probate and juvenile courts in Beltrami County before becoming a bookkeeper and notary. She was a fabulous cook and loved to share and collect different recipes.  She enjoyed nature photography and bird watching and was fond of her “pet” mallard who returned many years with chicks in tow to Lucille’s front deck for treats. November 3, 1973 she married Stuart Wright in Las Vegas, NV. Together they traveled the world with trips to Africa, Europe and numerous cruises. They spent winters in Puerto Rico, taking friends and family to the rainforest and the beach. Summers were spent fishing in Canada having shore lunch on remote islands in Lake of the Woods.  When it was time to become snow birds they built a house in Apache Junction AZ and Lucille joined the local hiking club making numerous trips to the nearby Superstition Mountains. Lucille was a strong woman who put her all into everything she did and credited that strength to her mother Clara.  

Survived by: Daughter June Cole, Stacy MN, Son Robert (Jackie) Rowles, Forest Lake MN Grandchildren Kate (Chabin) Blanc, Bemidji, Sara Kvale, Wyoming MN, Nicole Rowles, Roseville MN, Michael Rowles, Brooklyn Park MN, Great grandchildren Tana (Shawn) Kvale, Louisville KY, Clara Kvale, Wyoming MN, and Jonah Rowles. Brother Leroy Klasen, Bemidji, 

Preceded in death by: Parents Herman and Clara Klasen, Husband Stuart Wright, Brothers Roy and Herb Klasen and Sister Darlene Bitzer.
